2,000 Acres of the Stevens Peak Backcountry to be Developed in Lookout Pass Ski Area Expansion Plans
Lookout Pass Ski Area plans a $20 million expansion in several phases that include a new base area including parking in St. Regis Basin near the railroad grade hairpin, eight ski lifts and 2,000 acres of developed skiing in the Copper Lake and St. Regis Basin area. A map of the proposed development is shown below.
Lookout is currently preparing to proceed with Phase 1 which includes two new lifts L4 and L5 and cutting the runs associated with these lifts. Phil Edholm, owner of the ski area, hopes to be cutting runs in 2012. We anticipate an application for NEPA evaluation will be submitted this summer.
